You can let shoppers pay your shop straight into your own bank, on your own UPI handle. No payment provider sits in the middle and nobody takes a cut. There is one thing to understand before you switch it on, and it is not a detail: nothing tells Finocket the money arrived. You confirm each payment yourself, and the order is not confirmed until you do.
Why you have to confirm it
When your customer sends money to your UPI handle, it goes from their app to their bank to your bank. Finocket is not anywhere on that route — there is no message we could receive and nothing we could ask. Your bank tells you, on your phone, and that is the only notification that exists.
So this is the honest shape of it: your customer pays, sends you the receipt, and you check it against your own bank alert and press a button. Everything in Finocket is built around making that visible rather than hiding it — your customer is told the order waits for you, before they choose to pay this way.
Setting it up
- Open your shop from Shop and go to the Payments tab.
- Enter your UPI handle — the one that reads like
yourshop@bank— and the name your customers will see in their UPI app when they authorise the transfer. Use the name on your bank account, so it is recognisable and nobody abandons the payment because they do not know who they are paying. - Press Publish handle.
Until you do that, the option is simply not offered to anyone. There is no separate switch to forget: a published handle is the switch, and Stop offering direct UPI takes it away again. We never inherit the UPI ID you use on invoices — publishing a handle to strangers on a shop is a different decision from printing one on an invoice, and we will not make it for you.
What your customer sees
At checkout they get two clearly different options, and the difference is spelled out on each one:
- Card, netbanking or UPI — through the payment provider you connected on Settings → Payment gateway. The money still lands in your own account, and the order confirms itself the moment the provider tells us the payment went through.
- UPI to the shop's own handle — this one. It carries a shop confirms mark, and the sentence under it says the order is not confirmed until you have checked it.
If they pick yours, they see your handle, the exact amount, and a reference to put in the payment note — that reference is what lets you find the payment in your bank alert. On a phone, Open my UPI app fills all of it in for them. Then they attach a screenshot or PDF of the payment, and optionally the UPI reference number from their own app. After that their screen says, plainly, that you are checking it and the order is not confirmed yet.
Confirming a payment
Everything waiting for you is on the same Payments tab, oldest first — because whoever has waited longest has already parted with their money. Each one shows the amount, the reference to look for, their receipt and any reference number they gave you.
- Check your own bank or UPI app first. The receipt is what your customer says happened; your bank is what happened.
- I received this — place the order. That is the moment the order exists. Nothing before it does.
- Not in my account. Use this when you genuinely cannot find the money. It does not cancel anything: your customer can pay another way or try again, which matters, because the commonest reason a transfer is missing is that it went to the wrong handle.
You can add a note to either decision. It is yours — your customer never sees it.
The part that is easy to get wrong
This queue does not empty itself. There is no reminder that arrives if you stop looking, because there is nothing to remind us either — we do not know a payment is overdue for confirmation, only that nobody has confirmed it. If you are going to offer this, build the habit of checking the tab when you check your bank. A shopper sitting unconfirmed for three days has paid you and is waiting.
If that does not suit how you work, the better option is to connect your own payment provider on Settings → Payment gateway. Those payments report back, so those orders confirm themselves and there is no queue at all. You can offer both at once; many shops should.
Refunds
A direct UPI payment is refunded by you, from your own bank or UPI app, to the handle the money came from. Finocket was never in the money path, so there is nothing here to reverse — record the refund in your books as you would any other.
